I recently went on a vacation to Washington State. I have never in my life been to Washington State and I can honestly say it is not some place I have ever really wanted to visit. When I was growing up; all I heard about the Pacific Northwest is that it rains all the time. So, I just felt like that is not some place that I wanted to visit.
I can’t even tell you anything that I know about the Pacific Northwest but now that I’ve been there I am a fan. Apparently during the summer months its dry season and it doesn’t rain very often. As a matter of fact, in the mornings it is rather cool, and it is cool up until about 10 or 11:00 a.m. And then it gets hot but its dry heat, so you don’t have that humidity and it’s not bad like here in Orlando. It cools back down again maybe between 7 and 9:00 p.m. And it’s nice.
When I was there in Seattle, Wenatchee, and the Ellensburg area, I saw so much beauty! It was so wonderful to look around and see mountains in every direction and hills and beautiful greenery. To be outside during the summer and not to be dripping in sweat from the awful humidity; it was lovely.
I’m not saying I want to move to Washington State, but it made me appreciate the Pacific Northwest. I think the thing I appreciated most on my vacation was the motivation from being on vacation made me realize I really need to work harder at getting the job (career) that makes me happy.
My vacation was very busy, and we were on the go the entire time, but I had a little bit of time to think. When I was on a 4-Wheeler riding in the mountains and on a boat heading to Rock Island, I was so happy. But I was on vacation, so I should have been happy, right? Then I thought of the quote that’s in my bathroom, “Create a life you don’t need a vacation from.”
I’m not sure if that’s possible but I it’s worth a try. I dread going to work and I wouldn’t feel that way if I was passionate about my job. If I loved what I did I wouldn’t feel disappointment on my way to work. So, when I got back from my vacation I put in my two weeks’ notice!
I suppose many people dread going back to work after a vacation because most people always want to be on vacation but this time it was different. I didn’t want to go back to a job I wasn’t happy with. I’m at an age now where I want a career and not just something to pay my bills. And if I am going to work a job I’m not happy with; at least it should be one with benefits!
As humans, we shouldn’t only be happy when we’re on vacation. And man was I happy when I was on vacation. Like I said earlier, I went on a 4-wheeler ride in the mountains, on an awesome boat ride, I saw a waterfall, two baseball games, wine tasting, and ate delicious mouthwatering food! Happiness all around. I wanted to feel that way all the time. And yes, I am happy almost all the time, but not when I am at my current place of employment.
Motivation can come in the form of anything.
How do you feel about your job? Are you passionate about your work? Are you doing what makes you happy? What are your thoughts?
