Why is it Easier for Strangers?

Good morning beautiful humans, happy Friday! Thank you for spending part of your morning with me or evening depending on where you live in this great big beautiful world. Welcome to Life with Lane, my life through words, pictures, and food!

Life with Lane! Why is it Easier for Strangers?

My blogiversary is coming up in a month or so I think. I’m finally getting my footing and figuring this blogging thing out. I feel as if I’m doing pretty good. I get new followers now almost on a daily basis. I have more visitors and views each day. My blog is moving forward and I’m not at a standstill. I am happy with the direction my blog is going.

I’m at 250 followers and less than a month ago I was at 200. So, yes my blog is getting better each day. I’ve noticed that most of my followers are strangers, people that I’ve never met in my life. I come from a pretty big family and I have lots of acquaintances and friends. However, they only make up about 5% of my followers. Maybe less than that.

I’ve asked friends and family to follow me and they say they will but the follows haven’t happened. Funny thing is, when I meet people at work or when I’m out and about and tell them about my blog, they follow me almost immediately. It makes me wonder, why is it easier for strangers to support me than my own family and friends?

I wonder how accurate that quote above is really is. Of course anyone can become a blogger, so that would be silly. I would really like to know the reason. I have a friend that sales Mary Kay and even though I don’t really like it, I buy from her. I always try to support my family and friends.

Why is it easier for strangers to support us than family and friends? Of course I don’t mean my immediate family, they all follow me! Let me know your thoughts. I mean more than just about following your blog, I mean your T-shirt business, tax office, restaurant, clothing line, et. One more thing, why do people hate to see you happy?

Thanks for reading my blog. Have a wonderful blessed day and always be kind. Follow me on Instagram @lifewithlane14

Totally agree. I thought my friends and family would really promote and embrace my new adventure in blogging. And they are supportive but not as much as I thought. Guess I am shown again- don’t expect or assume!

🙂 I will speculate, that strangers are most interested in our blog because they are interested in the things that we post about.

Some of our friends and family members already know us and they will rarely find the time to visit our blog because it will not pique their interest.

I like your thought 😊😊 probably true and very sad at the same time. Because you know someone should be a reason to find time and support them, in my opinion! Thank you for reading and commenting. I really appreciate it 🤗🤗

I’ve found exactly the same thing, Arnetta. I can count on one hand the number of family members and friends who support me. Even the friends with whom I have many shared interests and who I think would genuinely enjoy my posts don’t follow me. It’s very strange, as I try to be supportive of them in their different endeavours and it would be nice if that was reciprocated. On the plus side, I feel as though as though I’ve found a whole new family within the blogging community; blogging has enhanced my life in ways I never, ever expected.

Yasss!!! Welcome to my world!! I have been doing outreaching for 5 years now probably about 10% of my friends and family support it. But I have not stop and will not stop. When God gives you a purpose and a plan, it’s yours. He will send you people who are assigned to you to help you along the way. Most will be strangers and it’s ok. ❤️🙏🏾❤️

Well, you’re probably the envy of most people, lol! You have an incredible devoted husband. Super talented sweet athletic daughter, great job/successful career, cute sons, so of course family and friends won’t support you. You represent everything they wish they had. I’ve learned people don’t like to see you happy and successful. Its a sad world we live in. I’ve never had that mentality. I want everyone to win and I’ve never been jealous of someone else’s success. I wasn’t built that way. Thank you so much for reading and commenting. I 100% support you, Always and forever!

Family is such an odd commodity. I had a similar experience with my siblings and my blog.
