Good morning beautiful humans, Happy Thursday! Thank you for spending part of the morning with me. Welcome to Life with Lane!

For those of you who may not know, my name is Arnetta. I am a woman and I am black. I am a black woman and I am very proud of it! According to the late great Malcolm X, the black woman is most disrespected, under protected person in America.

Before I get into how black women are disrespected, underappreciated, mistreated, and not protected in the world today; I have to go all the way back to slavery. The reason why I have to go all the way back to slavery is because that is where it started.
Slave owners, which were all white men, here in America; would rape and abuse black woman. They would separate the black women from their children but have them raise their children, meaning the owners children. They were beaten, whipped, and treated like dogs for the simplest mistakes. The mistreating, disrespect and non protection of black women started with slavery. Not much has changed since then.
However, in the world we live in today, the disrespect is coming from our own community as well.
With all the things going on in America and around the world. I can see now why Malcolm X said what he said that. I imagine I have always known but now my eyes are really open!
Years ago when Chris Brown assaulted Rihanna, the black community was the first community to forgive him. Robert (R) Kelly has assaulted, allegedly kidnapped, and preyed on tons of young black girls and women. Mostly everyone that is defending him are people from the black community. Saying he’s done nothing wrong and what about Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, etc.
What do they mean he’s done nothing wrong? I guess preying on young black girls and women is nothing. I guess holding young black girls against their will is nothing. Marrying a fifteen year old black girl is nothing.
Sandra Bland, Lanekia Michelle Brown, Kindra Chapman, and Janice Dotson-Stephens are all African American women that died in jail cells within the last few years. So called explanations have been given but very little details and I’m not sure if investigations are still ongoing. Of course this bothers me because I’m a black woman.
This isn’t the same, but when rapper Offset cheated on Cardi B, other rappers, entrepreneurs like Sean Combs were saying she needed to forgive him and take him back. I doubt if it was the other way around they would’ve said for him to forgive her.
I’m here to say this, BLACK WOMEN MATTER! If we can’t get our own community to stand up for us, who will? They won’t us to forgive cheating, being abused, battered, mistreated, and so many other things. Meanwhile, the way we are treated is overlooked. Yet, we are the most educated group of women in America. We show up to vote for things that matter. We stand up for the ones we love. Somehow we are treated the worst.
We live in a sad world and its time for things to change! Black women need to be treated better. All women need to be treated better. We need to feel like we matter and be treated better and respected. Have our people, our men stand up for us.
Black women need to be protected in sexual assault and sexual abuse cases and not the predator. We need to be protected period! Thank you for reading my blog. Have a wonderful blessed day and always be kind! Follow me on Instagram @Lashaunlee36
