Good morning beautiful humans happy Sunday! Thank you for spending part of your morning with me. Welcome to Life with Lane!

You always hear the phrase mother knows best. When you’re growing up, it doesn’t seem like she does. However, as we get older we realize that the things our mother taught us; she was always right. UGH!!
That can be very bothersome because as preteens and teenagers we think we know everything; and our parents know nothing. That our mothers know nothing about life and they can’t possibly understand anything that we are going through. At the end of the day, we realized the things that our mother taught us and told us; she was always right. As they say on Game of Thrones, “You know nothing Jon Snow!”
She wasn’t just right about things that happened to me as a teenager; she also understood things that would happen to me when I got older. I used to say to myself all the time and even now; how does she know everything?
As a matter of fact I haven’t seen my ex husband since 2007. On paper it was 8 years because it took almost 2 years for us to finalize our divorce. However, she was right!
This may sound bad but its true. I got married when I was 20 years old. Before I got married, my mother looked at me and said and I’m not sure she remembersureI give it about 6, 7 years tops.” I wasn’t really sure how to respond to that so I don’t think I said anything. My marriage lasted exactly 6 years.
We broke up like two months later. He was literally exactly what she described. I don’t think older men are like that in general; I just think he happen to be that way. He was a very insecure man. I can’t think of many things worse than a insecure person.
One of the best things my Mother ever or should I say to best advice she ever gave me was, “When people tell you something about someone you love. You make sure you hear it from the ones you love mouth before you believe it!”
Sometimes when people tell you things it isn’t always coming from a good place. We live in a sad world and unfortunately most people don’t like to see you happy. That is what my Mother meant by that. As Oprah says, “You can’t be friends with someone who wants your life!”
At the end of the day my Mother wanted what’s best for me. She wanted me to be careful who I trusted. She wanted me happy and safe! MOTHERS ARE EVERYTHING!!
What are some things your Mother taught you about life? What is the best advice your Mother has ever given you? Do you think Mother’s know best?
