When people show you who they are……….

I’ve never really been a fan of the quote, “When people show you who they are, believe them.” The reason why I’m not a fan of this quote is because that only applies when someone does something negative.

You can be around somebody for years and they can be the sweetest person in the world and one day you’ll go out, you’ll drink and they say something mean to you. Mind you, you’ve known this person for years and they’ve never said or done anything negative.  The moment they say something out of line you’ll have somebody say to you, that person has always felt that!  That’s probably complete bullshit by the way.

Do you know why it’s bullshit? If you hang out with somebody and they drink and they start handing $100 bills to everyone, you won’t  hear somebody say the line when people show you who they are believe them in that moment. Why? Because it’s not something negative.

I believe in when someone repeatedly shows you who they are, you believe them!  I believe in patterns. I believe in consistency. However, don’t give someone more than two times to disappoint you. Two times is enough to believe that’s just how they are.
