Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Good morning beautiful humans, Happy Tuesday! Today is October 1st, which means it’s the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The month of October is very special to me. My absurdly beautiful Mother’s birthday is this month and as I just stated its breast cancer awareness month. Welcome to Life with Lane: my life through words, pictures, and food!

For the past 10, maybe 12 years I’ve been talking about breast cancer Awareness month during October. Although I wear pink all the time in support of breast cancer, I go all out in October. When things hit home or close to home, they mean more to you.

I took this picture last year during the breast cancer walk. There were so many people there showing support for survivors, women recently diagnosed, and their loved ones that have passed away. It was people just supporting each other.

It was such a beautiful thing to witness. When you make something beautiful and kind out of tragedies it can be lovely to see. I think it may be referred to as “Beauty for Ashes!”

October is special to me. Getting to wear pink is just a bonus. Do I go overboard with my costume during the walk? There is no such thing as over dressing in my book! Maybe some people pile on more pink and costume to cover the pain.

This year I will do more than the walk and wear pink. I will visit facilities and I’m trying to have a fundraiser event. I will keep you posted.

Have a wonderful blessed day and always be kind! October is more than just wearing pink. Its about raising awareness. Honoring the queens we lost to this horrendous disease. Giving the ones hope that have been diagnosed. Doing research and mostly its about love and kindness. However, wearing pink doesn’t hurt. I wear it almost everyday.
