Those are lyrics from my favorite Carrie Underwood song. The way the world, or should I say America, is going right now I feel like everybody needs to listen to that song because I feel like we’re losing our way. We are going backwards and when has anything gotten better by going back? Times are so sad and upsetting right now and I find myself praying more than often. Trying to figure out what’s going on. Why aren’t people standing up against inequality, injustice, racism, bigotry, ageism, sexism, etc?
People often say, “I don’t get involved in politics.” This always puzzles me because if I don’t get involved people that don’t have my interest in heart will be in charge of things that affect my life and the lives of the people I love. Decisions that are made today will affect my nieces and nephews and my Godchildren.
I will continue to speak up even if only a few people hear me! Stand up for what you believe in, even if it means standing alone……I’m not afraid.
Hand me my map and my bible, I want to go in the right direction. I want to be on the right side of history. I want to look at myself in the mirror and be proud. I want my Mom, sisters, brother, nieces and nephews and God to be happy with who I am!!
