Only When Its Bad

Good morning beautiful humans, happy Sunday! Thank you for spending part of your morning with me or evening depending on where you live in this great big beautiful world. Welcome to Life with Lane, my life through words, pictures, and food!

We hear the saying a lot, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them.”  I’m rather fond of that statement however people only want you to listen to that when it’s something bad. 

What I mean by that is when you watch a movie and a person plays a good racist, lesbian, or a gay person which are all things that are (considered) bad (being racist is bad though).People will say he played that role so good he must really be racist or she must really be a lesbian or he must truly be gay. 

Another example is when a person is drunk and they become mean people will say that’s who they really are. It’s only because that person is mean. However nobody ever says that when somebody is drunk and they become giggly and happy and starts passing out money they don’t say that’s who they truly are. That only applies when what a person does is bad. 

I’ll give you a more example. You can be friends with somebody for years and they do something to hurt you; like not show up at your birthday party or have a fit at a dinner. People will automatically remind them of that quote. Although you’ve been friends with that person for years you’ll cut them out of your life because of that……..

Am I the only one who notices that? Now that I have put that in your head, you’ll pay more attention to it, when people use that phrase. It was change how you look at the world and how you look at people.
