Since I was in middle school I have always been against abortion and capital punishment. My love for babies and children wouldn’t allow me to comprehend abortion. I was never a fan of an eye for an eye when it came to murder. So, I couldn’t get on board with capital punishment.
However, as I’ve got older and learned about things women have gone through over the years, my thought process has changed. I still don’t believe in abortion or capital punishment but I don’t think anyone should have the right to tell women what to do their bodies, PERIOD!!
Over the past few weeks I’ve seen states pass abortion laws and it’s quite upsetting and puzzling. I say puzzling because when a woman decides to have an abortion it’s her decision and it really affects no one else. I mean literally it affects no one else. What’s even more upsetting is the fact that a group of old men are making these decisions to pass these laws. Why are men making decisions about women’s bodies?
We have people out here pushing for anti abortion laws but won’t fight that hard for things to get done that actually affect people on a daily basis. We have a gun control issue in America. Mass shootings happen almost on a daily basis. Flint Michigan hasn’t had clean water since 2012. We have an opioid crisis. Women and young girls are abducted and sold into sex slavery. Kids are in cages at the border and separated from their families. Black people are treated unfairly, discriminated against, profiled, and young unarmed black men are being shot by police officers. Young boys are being molested in the Catholic church. I mean I could go on and on with issues in America that need to be addressed.
One of the thing that bothers me most is the fact that once a child is born, the people that are trying to stop abortions, don’t seem to give a damn about the baby anymore. They are trying to get rid of programs that help mothers. Medicaid, Medicare, Obamacare, healthy lunch programs, planned parenthood, food stamps, welfare, etc! What is going on in this world?
Why can’t they use that same passion to save children that are already here??
For years, women had very little to no rights at all. We couldn’t vote. We were expected to just stay home and clean and make babies. Our only jobs were secretary or phone operator when we could work. They expected us to be pretty and silent. We weren’t treated very well. We’ve endured so much and we continue to do so. Having the right to control what we can and cannot do with our bodies should never be on the table. Always remember only God can judge us. No one else, just him! Thanks for reading my blog.
