Never Loved More

Years ago I was part of a writing website called Fanstory. It was a great way to connect with other writers and have them critique your work and give feedback. I loved it but for some reason I stopped doing it.

However, I did enter a poem that I wrote about Dusty that got really great reviews and so much positive feedback. So, I thought I would share it with you guys. I wrote it so many years ago. A lot of my inspiration comes from my pups. I spent/spend more time with them then I did anyone else. That is why it has been so rough for Onyx and I since Dusty left us.

Has anyone ever loved me more?
You graciously wait for me every day at the front door.
I can’t remember a time when you weren’t there.
I do believe you would follow me anywhere.

Picking you was the best decision I ever made.
No matter what the price, I would’ve overpaid.
Even on my worst of days.
You have made me better in every way.

When I walk, I have three shadows behind me.
Sitting right beside me watching that ridiculous show glee.
You are always by my side.
Smiling with so much pride.

How can I love an animal so?
I simply just don’t know.
But the love I feel for my Dusty is real.
A dog like you and your loyalty is the deal.
