A Second Look at the Menu

Hello beautiful humans! Happy Wednesday

Jim and I were so excited to visit The Artisans Table for dinner on New Year’s Eve. We had dinner there at the beginning of our relationship and the food was absolutely scrumptious. I mean we couldn’t stop talking about it. So, when the time came for us to pick a restaurant for NYE, it wasn’t very hard to pick one! Artisans Table was my first choice.

A few days before NYE we decided to look at the menu and pick our food before we arrived. We were just so excited to go back and have dinner. However, when we went online and took a look at the menu it wasn’t what we remembered. As a matter of fact, nothing on the menu was appealing to us at all. We were quite disappointed and decided to make reservations somewhere else.

I couldn’t get over for the fact for almost a year we thought the restaurant was the best thing ever; only to find it wasn’t what we thought it was once we took a closer look. It reminded me of how we see things in life when we don’t really take a close look. We only look at the surface and don’t dive into it; really get to know things.

I was with my ex years ago for several years. For quite some time I thought he was the one. I wanted to marry him, have kids with, and grow old with him. Then I really got a good look at him and realized he wasn’t what I wanted at all. The signs were always there but I choose to ignore them. I had to go back and take a second look.
I did the same thing with my new job. The pay for was right, my office was nice, and I had good hours. On the surface everything was perfect. Then I took a second look and it wasn’t what it was cracked up to be. My former boss didn’t respect women, the business was failing, he had a bad reputation, and most importantly MY FORMER BOSS DIDN’T RESPECT WOMEN!

Sometimes it’s really important to go back and re-examine things. We get so impatient or just don’t want to wait and we make quick decisions. Taking a deeper look and taking a step back won’t hurt.

How many of you have been through this? Thanks for reading my blog. I hope you enjoyed it and maybe even learned something. Have a wonderful day! Follow me on Instagram @lashaunlee36
