Behind Every Successful Woman

Hello Beautiful People! Happy Friday!

I woke up in the middle of the night from nearly coughing up a lung. I mean I just couldn’t catch my breath. It hurt my chest and my throat so bad. I was going on my 5th day of my awful sinus infection. Maybe I was delirious from the coughing and feeling light headed but I looked over and my dog Onyx was standing next to the bed.

He looked at me and he said, “Mom!” My hacking had worried him so much it caused him to speak. He had to make sure his Mom was okay. For several moments we just started at each other. He was checking on me and I was trying to decide if my dog really said Mom or if I was dreaming (delirious really), lol! Regardless, I told him i was okay when I could talk. He didn’t believe me so he stood there and waited until I put my head back on the pillow and then he got back in his bed.

The thing about having dogs, my dogs, is, they are always there for me! As a writer, who has a lot of late nights and early mornings, my pups are always next to me. They motivate me to be the best me so I can have more free time to spend with them.

When I was in college, I had to write so many papers. I was also a full time employee. It was very hard and I had to burn the midnight oil a lot. I would sit at my desk, do my research, and write my papers. My dogs were right at my feet every time. Often they were so quiet I would forget they were the room with me. They just wanted to be in my presence.

Dogs spend a lot of time waiting for us by the door. When I worked 2 jobs more then a few times since I’ve had them, they have waited patiently for me to come home. I would like to say i owe my motivation, my drive, ambition, and focus all to my dogs!

I can’t imagine how tired you guys are of hearing about how much i love my dogs . Its been 13 and 12 years strong so it’s hard not to! They are such a big part of my life.

Last week I took Dusty to the vet because he hasn’t been feeling well. As it turns out, he has what is called hemolytic anemia.  Dogs are supposed to have a red blood cell level between 50 and 75 or something like and he was at a level 14. A level 14! Not sure what happened to him to become this way but he’s sick! I was devastated but I remained optimistic and I am still am.

Not sure if its normal for people to pray for their dogs; but I do every night! Dusty seems to be doing just fine and its been over a week since he started his medicine. The vet said it was possible that he wouldn’t make it. He didn’t seem positive that he would make it much longer at all; especially with his red blood cell count that low. Well, he’s still here and he’s going strong! God is good!

My dogs have made me a better person. I’ve said this before, motivation comes in many forms. They have taught me patience, forgiveness, understanding, and unconditional love! It’s amazing what a four-legged creature can do for your life!
