“I’m not going to buy that okay I’m going to buy that!” is a line from one of my favorite shows, American Dad. Roger says when he’s watching a Home Shopping Network and it’s just some random stupid item and he doesn’t need it and he tells himself he’s not going to buy it but he buys it anyway. He keeps doing it on every item displayed. The episode is absolutely hilarious and is one of my favorite episodes. It’s kind of hard to have a favorite episode of American Dad because it’s so hilarious. Maybe that’s just one of my favorite lines and not my favorite episode; but either way I love American Dad! When I’m having a bad day watching that show makes me feel better about life!
The thing is he doesn’t need the items and he also doesn’t have the money but he uses his credit card and he buys it anyway. It reminds me of what we do during Christmas time. Not the part where we buy items that we don’t need. The part where we don’t have the money for a gift for our family and we use credit cards and then we’re in debt when Christmas time is over.
This is where me being a cheapskate or as I like to say a Frugalista comes in handy, lol! I hate shopping or should I say shopping for myself and I almost never buy things I can’t afford. As a matter of fact, when I go to the store I don’t get a basket. I have this theory that if I don’t get a basket and it can’t fit in my hands I’m not going to buy it. I have saved myself so much money that way. I go into a store, get what i need and get out of there as quickly as possible. I think in my subconscious when I’m in the store I hear Rodger in my head saying, “I’m not going to buy that!” and so I don’t buy it because I don’t want to be Roger
It’s always important to stick to a budget and not going broke by trying to pay for things that we cannot afford. Yes I know Christmas is only once a year but falling behind on bills can affect you and your credit for quite a while. I personally buy small things every week when I have extra money. So I don’t seem like I’m spending a bunch of money all at once. I make a goal to have all of my gifts purchased by a certain date that way it gives me enough time to have my gifts to my family before Christmas.
If i don’t have the money for the gift someone requested; they just don’t get it. Thankfully, in today’s time, people are very understanding; especially when it comes to money! Don’t be a ROGER!
