Not Always as It Seems

I’ve suffered from migraines since I was in middle school. They are literally the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. If you’ve never had one you are truly blessed, and I would never wish a migraine on anyone. It feels like a needle it’s stabbing into my temple, someone is squeezing my brain, a tight rope is tied around my head, and someone is grabbing the back of my neck at the same time. It’s horrific.

Lately, I’ve started having them more frequently in addition to my sinus issue. It’s been awful. I’m writing about it because sometimes when we’re sick or in pain it’s not always external. Migraines aren’t visible, and people and people often say will you look fine or you don’t look like you’re sick. Having no idea then our earlier you may have thrown up for 3 hours straight and cry that entire time.

What we must understand as humans is that sometimes the brightest smile can hide the most pain. It goes to show just because something looks good on the outside; it can be dead or dying on the inside. We cannot judge a book by its cover.

About a week and a half ago, my younger sister and my nephew were here to visit. The entire time they were in town I had a migraine and I was sick to my stomach and it felt like my brain was going to explode. However, you wouldn’t be able to tell by the pictures. I took so many pain pills and may migraine pills before I saw them because I wanted to enjoy my time with them. I didn’t want my migraine to win.

So, next time you judge someone based on a picture or post, remember you never know what someone is going through. People do what they have to for the ones they love. A picture isn’t always what it seems.
