Is this the life you imagined for yourself?

So, I turned 45 a few days ago! Yes, I’m 45. I may not look like it, but I am! As I get older I often take time to reflect on my life. So I thought it myself, is the life i imagined for myself? How many people are actually living the life they imagined? Is this the life we imagined for ourselves?

As I’ve gotten older, the things I’ve wanted in life have changed. I wanted to be married, have like 5 kids, and be a doctor, lol! Since I was a teenager, getting married and having babies was like my dream! I absolutely love kids and i was like I’d be such a great Mom!

The older I got, what I thought I wanted in life shifted in a different direction. I think seeing how life actually is, changed my perspective. Realizing hospitals and blood makes me nauseated and uncomfortable. The thought of giving birth scared the hell out of me. Seeing the way kids are today……….

I never imagined myself being a single childless woman at this age. However, it’s a life I’m proud of and one that makes me very happy! Why? I wanted to go to college! I did and I graduated. I wanted to attend Cosmetology school and get my license! I did!

I wanted to get married, I did! It didn’t last but it was good for a time and I’m proud of what it was. I started my own business. I’m a published author and have been in newspapers and magazines. I get to write everyday. I have traveled all around the world. I’ve always wanted to do that!

I guess this is better than the life I imagined and I can say it’s only going to get better! Why? Because I’m willing to put in the work to get the things I want in life! Are you?
