Good morning beautiful humans, happy Thursday! Only one more day of the work week. Well, for people that work Monday- Friday. Welcome to Life with Lane, my life through words, pictures, and food! Come on in…….

“Doing things that matter!” Www.lifewithlane.net
As a Black Woman I feel like I constantly have to tell people that I matter. Sometimes I feel like people only see me, us (Black women) as objects. It’s very, very upsetting. The reason I felt the need to write about this again (Black Women Matter) is because of what happened to Jada Pinkett Smith at the Oscar’s.
You see, Chris Rock could’ve picked any human in that room and he chose to pick the Black woman with no hair. He didn’t just pick any bald black woman, he chose the one with alopecia. Even if he didn’t know she had alopecia, why did he feel the need to comment on her appearance? Why did he feel the need to pick on the black woman with no hair?

He could’ve picked anyone but he picked her? Why? Because she was black and in his mind she could take the joke? She was expendable? She was strong enough. Her feelings didn’t matter? He simply didn’t care.
Before I continue, I want to paint a small picture about how a Black Woman is treated in America vs how a white woman is treated…….mind you Angelina wasn’t the married one, Brad was but still……

Angelina was put on magazine covers. She was made as Ambassadors worldwide. Her career flourished. She never suffered publicly as far as I know. She even let people know she fell in love with Brad a married man while filming that movie. She had no shame. None at all! She actually seemed proud. She did that cover with grace and happiness. She never once cared about Jennifer Anniston feelings! Now, back to my point….
People keep saying Will slapped Chris Rock because he knew he wouldn’t retaliate. However, Chris picked Jada because she’s married to Will Smith and he’s known for being one of the nicest people in Hollywood. He thought Will wouldn’t respond. Did anyone consider that?
Black Women are not here for anyone’s entertainment. We’re not here to be the brunt of a joke. We’re not an armpiece or decoration. We’re not something to use for revenge. We’re intelligent, educated, smart, witty, funny, loyal, and creative. Not to mention We’re the life of the party. We set all the trends. Everyone wants to be like us! Don’t ever forget that! Black Women Matter! We are EVERYTHING

Yal are everything! You are right he didn’t have to pick on her bald head….but Will didn’t have to slap him publicly like that at a black tie event…I would have pulled up on him backstage..checked him…had that conversation and see if a B slap was still necessary. But he’s still from Philly π

Sometimes you gotta check a person where the $hit happens that way they donβt do it again. Chris Rock appears to be a (habitual line stepper) in my Charlie Murrphy voice. And we know what the five fingers said to the face.
