If you’ve been watching the news or surfing the net you know there’s something happening right. That something is a movement for Black Lives Matter! Black lives have always mattered but others are just now catching on. Why it took so long, I have no idea but I’m glad it has.

I think that video of George Floyd being slowly murdered captured on video really opened a lot of people’s eyes as to how African Americans are mistreated by police. I have to remind you that his being arrested and manhandled was all over a$20 counterfeit bill. Yes, you heard me right. His murder was over a $20 counterfeit bill.

Nikolas Cruz, the white male that went to Parkland High school and murdered 17 kids and injured 17 more was treated better George Floyd. That’s a different but you get my point.

There’s a movement happening all over America and it’s a global thing now. I have to tell you this makes me incredibly happy. I’m writing this blog because there are people that say protesting doesn’t work. Let me rephrase that, peaceful protesting doesn’t work. Well, see a list below of what’s been accomplished in only two weeks of protesting.

(Courtesy of cbs8.com and my friend Dan Locke)Minneapolis bans use of chokeholds. Charges are upgraded against Officer Chauvin and the other three officers are arrested. Dallas, Texas, adopts “a duty to intervene’ rule that requires officers to stop other cops who are engaging in inappropriate use of force, monuments celebrating confederates are removed in cities in Virginia, Alabama, and other states, the confederate flag is banned from Nascar, Los Angeles city council introduces motion to reduce LAPD’s $1.8 billion operating budget, New Jersey’s attorney general said that the state will update its use-of-force guidelines for the first time in two decades, MBTA in Boston agrees to stop using public buses to transport police officers to protests, street in front of the White House is renamed “Black Lives Matter Plaza.” Military forces begin to withdraw from D.C. People all over the world have been demanding justice for George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement. There have been protest in Amsterdam, Germany, Ireland, Spain, Brussels, New Zealand, Syria, Poland. I mean the list goes on.

A movement is happening my friends and I hope you’re all being apart of this. This is important. Black Lives Matter, always have, always will!

Thank you for reading my blog. Like, comment, subscribe! What are your thoughts on what’s happening? Have a wonderful blessed day and always be kind. Continue to practice social distancing, wash your hands, and don’t forget about your neighbor. #onelove

History seems to repeat over and over. Hopefully this time there will be deeper, longer lasting changes, not just to the justice system, but to help “equal the playing field” economically, something promised 50 years ago and still not delivered.
