How I Dealt With My Anxiety

Good morning beautiful humans, happy Thursday! Thank you for spending part of your morning with me or evening depending on where you live and his great big world. Welcome to Life with Lane, my life through words, pictures, and food!

I’m not sure if I’ve had anxiety all of my life. All I know is that in the past few years my anxiety has gotten pretty bad. It’s not bad all the time but during certain situations it’s really rough. I don’t fly very well and as you know I just recently went to Europe.

The flight there wasn’t so bad maybe because it was divided into 2 flights. I flew from Orlando to Boston had like a 4 hour layover. Then a flight from Boston to Paris. However on my way back it was a straight shot back to Orlando. It was an eight and a half hour flight.

I prefer non stop flights because in the past my anxiety hasn’t been why I didn’t fly well; it was my motion sickness. On this particular flight it was my anxiety. I had a window seat, which is always good. As soon as the two people sat next to me and I saw all the other people getting on the plane I felt trapped, like I couldn’t breathe,  and the plane was closing in around me. My heart starting beating extremely fast,  I thought I was going to faint. It was awful. I wanted to get off of the plane.

I explained to the nice couple next to me my situation and they told the flight attendant. She looked at me she goes, “You have anxiety with flying and you’re own a plane?” I said back with a little bit of sass, “No, I have anxiety in general!” She said okay, let me see what I can do.

So, to calm myself down and not freak out any further about wanting to exit the plan. I closed my eyes and counted.  I took lots of deep breaths and I thought of happy places. I thought of the fact that I would see Onyx in a few hours and how happy he would be to see me. I prayed to God to calm me down and then I talked to the nice couple next to me. I focused on their nice words and then the flight attendant came and told me she had a new seat for me!

I was given an aisle seat in my very own row. From that point on I was perfectly fine, well as far as anxiety goes. I was still uncomfortable in my seat because airplane seats suck.

Thank you for reading my blog. I hope you learned something. How do you deal with anxiety/panic attacks? Do you have any advice? Have a wonderful blessed day and always be kind. Follow me on Instagram @lifewithlane14

I have an ability to swing into anxiety and overthinking. I swear by deep breathing and visualization, quality cbd oil, healthy diet and exercise and enough sleep. A really great book I read recently “first we make the beast beautiful” is very insightful with regards to anxiety. For motion sickness- ginger root before and during travel. Cheers!
