Good morning beautiful humans, happy Tuesday! Thank you for spending part of your morning with me or evening depending on where you live in the world. Welcome to life with Lane, my life through words, pictures, and food!

As you all know my little best friend my little pup my Dusty passed away about a month and a half ago. I had him for 13 years and in this past month and a half I’ve been somewhat of a mess. So my vacation couldn’t have come at a better time. Well it couldn’t have come at a better time for me, but for Onyx not so much. However, he was with my sister while I was away and he was in good hands. They had a great time together.

Before I left when I looked at pictures of Dusty or I thought about him I cried or I was close to crying. My heart broke almost every single time I thought about my dog. Tears were always close to the surface. It was incredibly sad. I carried his blue dog collar in my purse when I went to work. I put it in my pocket when I walked Onyx so I would feel like he was still walking with us. Everything reminded me of my sweet little dog and it broke my heart.
Its not easy losing a dog and I know it’s okay to grieve, cry, and be sad. My vacation renewed my spirit. Being in a new environment, smelling that wonderful fresh air, and doing different activities rejuvenated me. It gave me a better perspective on life I guess.

Europe was such a beautiful place more so Germany and Switzerland, lol! Going away was good for my soul. Being able to see the Notre Dame cathedral up close and personal was amazing. I admit I looked for Quasimodo, lol! Having dinner at the Eiffel Tower was a dream come true.

Taking a gondola to the top of the Swiss Alps was unreal. The cool part was having a bird land on top of my head and stay long enough for a picture. I could go on and on about why my trip was good for me. I will write more blogs about my trip and share my wonderful experiences with you.

I feel rejuvenated and I thank God for that. I also want to thank my other half Jim. This was the best vacation of my life. You are such a bright light in my life. You are so much fun and you are so kind, generous, and good to me. God put you in my life when I didn’t even know I needed you.

When I think of Dusty now I feel happiness and there’s only tears of joy now. He was such a happy little dog and it was a blessing having him for 13 years. Onyx and I are both happy! He will be traveling with me on my next trip.
