Just My Imagination

Good morning beautiful humans, Happy Sunday! Thanks for spending part of your morning with me. Welcome to Life with Lane!

Just my Imagination

Have you ever had something happen in your life when you were young that was so sad you’re not sure if it really happened? The reason you’re not sure is because no one ever talks about it. It was so sad and traumatic that its off limits. It makes you think maybe it was a dream or a nightmare.

When I was a child, my cousin died of a brain tumor. I do believe she was only 5 years old. I remember going to the funeral and seeing her in the casket. She had on a dress and a really pretty head band. She was bald. She lost her hair from cancer. It made me sad.

From that day forward I don’t remember anyone mention my cousins death again. I imagine it was because its incredibly sad and awful. As I got older I thought to myself did I dream my cousin died or did it really happen? It makes me think of a lot of things that are going on today with abuse of children and women.

Sometimes kids will come forward and tell their parents something happened to them. They were touched inappropriately by an adult that may have been an uncle or a stepfather or older cousin. Maybe even a priest and the parent’s, guardian, or adult will ask them to not speak of it again. They might say they’ll handle it and affer a while the child might think it never happened it was just their imagination or a nightmare.

Society seems to want to protect the adult and not the child.  As I’ve spoken before about R. Kelly. When the allegations came out regarding him, alot of people blamed the women, the mothers, and the young ladies. It only seemed like a handful of of people blamed him!

We have to protect our women and children. They are the future.

Before I go I will say this regarding the allegations of Michael Jackson. If what they are saying is true, that is incredibly upsetting. Sadly he’s not here to defend himself and its easier to believe the accused when the accuser is dead.

  1. I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way.Show them all the beauty they possess inside. As you read this, think of me singing in my non Whitney Houston voice. Good post. It’s sad but true
