The Evolution of my Migraines

Good morning beautiful humans, happy Sunday! Thank you for spending part of your morning with me. Welcome to Life with Lane!

I’ve suffered from migraines for almost 20 years. I do believe migraines are the worst (physical) pain I’ve ever had in my entire life.

When I first experienced a migraine; I wasn’t sure it was called a migraine. I just knew that the pain was so excruciating, it had to be more than just a regular headache.  It made me sick to my stomach, I would sometimes throw up, sound and light made me feel worse, I felt dizzy and confused, off balance would be a better term, and it lasted for hours; sometimes even days. I was unable to function. I thought my head would explode. It felt like a needle was being stabbed repeatedly into my temple while someone hit me with a bat.

This was ME!

After going to the doctor a few times and having a C.A.T Scan and MRI’s. My doctor told me that my migraines were a result of my cycle. I found that hard to believe since I had them on days when I wasn’t on my cycle.  He said some women are just cursed with bad periods and there was nothing he could do to stop them. He prescribed me two different types of prescriptions and sent me on my way.

I thought to myself, so I’m going to have terrible migraines every month until I go into menopause? I couldn’t accept that.  If you never experienced a migraine,  I pray you never do. My migraines had gotten so bad I wanted to just die. I felt that death had to be better than the pain I was feeling almost on a daily basis.

So what did I do? I prayed about it.  I went to a different doctor, who was a female doctor, and she prescribed me pills that people with high blood pressure take. She also prescribed a different migraine medicine.  Also, a few days before my appointment; I went online and I ordered some pills called Christian body pills. They were made with all natural ingredients for migraines.

So, every morning I would get up; take the Christian body pill, the high blood pressure pill and within a few weeks I stopped having migraines. As a side note, I didn’t have high blood pressure.

For the longest time I went without having migraines and this is years ago. I have not had migraines the way I used to in over 10 years. Have I stopped having migraines completely? No, I haven’t but I have not had them the way I used to. Thank God

I do occasionaly have sinus headaches and it can kind of feel like a migraine but now I can tell the difference. Well, most of the time! So, when someone tells you they have a migraine, don’t take it lightly.

Before I go, I would like to list some things that helped with my migraines.

  1. Drinking water
  2. Caffeine
  3. Exercise
  4. Not sleeping more than 8 hours
  5. Taking pork out of my diet
  6. Not overheating during exercise

Have you suffered from migraines?

What kind of medication do you take?

  1. Thank you for this blog entry! I am glad I know someone whom has felt the same pain as me. I will try eliminating pork out of my diet. I never take anything, I just sleep all day to get rid of it.

    1. You’re welcome! I can’t go without taking anything. Mine used to last for days at a time if I tried and I ended up having to quit jobs because of it. They were awful. I didn’t want them to control my life. I occassionally still have them but not like I used to. I hope yours get better. They are more than a headache. They are like a neurological disorder
