Through the Eyes of Others

Good morning beautiful humans, Happy Tuesday! Thanks for spending part of your morning with me. Welcome to Life with Lane! How was your MLK Day?

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in own problems, in our world,  we forget about others. We tend to only look at he world through our eyes and not of our neighbors. It’s not something we do on purpose but it happens often. Maybe even moreso than we like to admit. Life is tough and when you are barely keeping your head above water its hard to look out for the other man.

I don’t have children and I am often reminded of that by my friends with children. This happens when they are late for an event or outing we have planned together and they show up late. When you know you have done all you can to make sure you show up on time and you are sitting at a table alone for over 20 minutes waiting on a friend; the last thing you are thinking is, “they have kids!” You are saying to yourself, “I left early in case there was bad traffic and I picked out my outfit last night. I did everything right to show up early. Why couldn’t she do the same?”

Do we ever think that maybe one of the kids got sick when she was leaving? Maybe she wasn’t feeling well because the last few days her kids were sick but she decided to come out anyway? Lastly, what if her kids and dogs were all sick and she needed a few more minutes to get everything squared away?

In the same breath, if the government shutdown has not personally affected you, have you thought to yourself how those people feel? Can you imagine    how it feels not to have money to feed yourself or your family? To have a fear of potentially being evicted and not knowing what to do about it? I challenge you to look at the world through their eyes.

I am making a vow to donate money to one of the foodbanks that are feeding the families affected by the shutdown. I don’t have as much as I would like to donate but I will give what I can. This shutdown should make all of us realize we have to have more than one source of income. The old saying goes, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket!”

What are your thoughts about the shutdown? Do you have more than one source of income? In the world we live in today, living paycheck to paycheck, what do you suggest for people to do to save up for a rainy day?

Thank you for reading my blog! I hope you enjoyed it. Have a wonderful day. Follow me on Instagram @Lashaunlee36

  1. Well your friends shouldn’t mention anything about you not having children. I never do or have for you never know someone’s situatuon if they couldn’t .
As far as trying to save money in case of a rainy 6 months of no paycheck?
Very hard to do cause inflation is so high and people aren’t making enough to even make ends meet.
    It’s a serious hustle out there .
