Not on my to-do list……Anymore

When I was younger I always said by the time I got 30 years old I would be married and have like 4 or 5 children. But as time went by and I got older and I didn’t have any children. I thought maybe I would have them a little later in life. Now as a woman that’s almost 37 years old I feel that I have waited too late and I don’t think I want to have children.

I know 37 isn’t old but when it comes to carrying a child, I feel like it’s getting up there in age and maybe not the best idea for me. One of my favorite singers in entire world, Carrie Underwood, who is I think 35 years old, was talking about her life and she said that she thinks she waited too long to have a huge family. She got a lot of backlash.

I am puzzled by this because in the article, Carrie did not say 35 or 37 or 40 is too old for a woman to carry a child. She was talking about herself in general. She did not add anybody else into this equation just herself. Why are we not allowed to speak about things that are regarding ourselves?

I understand what Carrie feels because I’m 37 and I’ve never had any children. I feel that I am too old to carry a child, that I have waited too long. I don’t need to hear about other peoples experiences having children later in life. It’s my body, I’m the one that would carry the child so shouldn’t I be concerned for me? I think for me 37 is too old for me to carry a baby and I have every right to feel that way.

I would like to think most women have a window of when they’d like to have kids. Just like when we make a five or ten-year plan and it’s funny because at the end of the day it’s what God has planned for us.

  1. Right now you feel this way. Wait til the right guy comes along and wants you to have his baby and you’ll feel different. It won’t matter in age and could be like 50 . Janet Jackson just did and looks happy and content. I say don’t count it out til the fat lady sings.
